黒人スチール・ギタリスト Freddie Roulette が1973年に発表した、ままタイトル通りのスウィートでファンキーなスチール物。B1, B4 はサックス、ヴァイオリンも絡む少々ストレンジ気味のグルーブ物。スチール・ギターに、ゆる〜いエコーが気持ち良いサイケ風味のカントリー, ブルース作 A1, A2, A3もヨイヨイ。

Sun Ra率いるIntergalactic Arkestraに参加していたFrench Horn奏者 Brother Ahh のリーダー作。A面はホーン、ヴォイス、エフェクト等を使ってのサイケデリア。B面はパーカッシブなリズムに Max Roach のラップが絡むフリー・ジャズ。

"Beyound yourself" is a sound journey in 7 parts. Introduction-Rap-Midnight confession-Fear-Demons-Morning song-Dawn. The scene is set at midnight. A lone figure sits in his room faced with two decisions. Should he give up his daily life of drugs, alcohol and fantasy, which he thinks he needs to survive and maintain his family unity and self dignity that is fast slipping away... or should he renounce the world entirely and become a monk. The sounds and visions in his mind slowly move him into deep meditation and he communicates with his inner self. He realizes he must deal with reality and resolves to lead a righteous and productive life in the world. The mystical mind trip ends at dawn.

"The humaneness of life, demands that man considers his relationship with one another and to all of creation-to the winds and galaxies, to animals and trees, to humanity in their joy and sorrow. To maintain our harmonious relationship with the forces of the universe we will participate in communal music."

With these words Brother Ahh commenced to spirit M'Boom, re: percussion and a host singers, dancers, actors, poets, musicians and audience into that universe of creative spontaniety where the mode of expression is a harmonious conglomade of sounds.

Our society, our community, our lives are saturated with sameness. So much so that at times even the profound becomes common place. Brother Ahh, in his dedication and honesty has brought us out of this milieu to a plateau that defies mediocrity. I am proud to be a part of Brother Ahh's musical humaneness.

ヴァイオリンを生かしたカントリー・ロックで軽くて楽しい音楽がたくさん入っているテキサスのグループ Siva's headband のファースト・アルバム。不思議な軽さが魅力のA1, A2, A4, B1, B2, B3等、オススメUSサイケ盤。

Founded by leader Spencer Perskin, a classically trained violinist, in July 1967, they have proved one of Texas's most durable outfits. Earlier, in 1966, Perskin had spent some time in San Francisco where he had briefly played in a band which included folkie Penny Nichols. アメリカのキャバレーを回っていた、恐ろしくはじけている日本人5人姉妹（エイコ、ショウコ、ケイコ、トミコ、ルリコ）の、ライヴ・レコーディング盤。三味線の音がストレンジさを増すA3, ドラム（ケイコ）のソロが聴けるA4, ビートのあるA6、女姉妹の奇声が聴けるB4など佳曲ぞろい。いかがわしい1枚。

The Tokyo happy coats (A happy coat in Japan is a traditional garment and a symbol of love and happiness.) The internationally known Tokyo happy coats have performed in many major clubs throughout the world. Little did anyone know that these fine, beautiful Japanese sisters were destined to become one of the most successful oriental attractions in the Eastern and Western hemishere. I first enjoyed their performance at Sahara Tahoe at Lake Tahoe, then the Frontier Club in Las Vegas, and again a Holiday House, Pittsburgh and the Moon Club in Detroit.

Traveling with forty-four pieces of luggage, which include over twenty-six musical instruments and the professional talent employed in the playing of the instruments, I decided that after ten years of entertaining the hundreds of thousand of fans and customers by their stage performances, they should record for the plesure of the listening public and I signed the group to a recording contract.

The Tokyo happy coats will gain additional recognition through this, their first live album on the King label. I look forward to many more plesant sounds from The Tokyo happy coats in their future single and album releases. I am sure, after listening to this album, you will agree The Tokyo happy coats are truly recording artists as well as performing musicians and vocalists.
