Fullman, Ellen / The long string instrument / 1985

My intrest in sound began by using contact microphones to amplify objects. I made collages of these sounds with tape machines and used them in performances. I gradually developed an intrest in tonality, yet had no desire to play a traditional instrument. My previous background in sculpture and in performance art coelesced in the making of my own instruments...by Ellen Fullman.
