Dias, Antonio / The Space Between / 1971 US
Cover: padded mailing envelope (33 x 36.5cm), mounted postcard, b/w, with red lettering according to a photo by Ruy Bastos, 30cm, 33RPM, 1971, limited edition of 180, signed and numbered, Antonio Dias. Contents: The Theory of Counting. The Theory of Density.
The Space Between, an album published by Dias, is the recording of the intermittent, and then continuous, scansion of two sounds: an alarm clock and breathing. First the record has three seconds of silence, observing a preestablished pattern in order to stress the acoustic effect of the full and the empty, or sound and silence. In the second part attention is focused on the continuum of breathing with its natural drawing and expelling of breath, again positive and negative.
